The hit CBS TV show NCIS has had a total of six seasons and is currently airing the seventh season, as well as the first season of NCIS: Los Angeles. NCIS stands for Naval Criminal Investigative Service, and follows a special time of agents who get involved in military criminal cases, normally the US Navy and Marine Corps.
The show started as a two-part episode of JAG, which was where the concept and characters were created. NCIS premiered as it's own spin-off of JAG on September 23, 2003, and has reruns on the channels USA, Sleuth, and Ion. The co-producer of NCIS is also the producer of Magnum, PI and Quantum Leap.
Season 7 began on September 22, 2009, and began preceding NCIS: Los Angeles on Tuesdays.
